Overview:

From July 3rd to 6th, 2025, the Science Fiction Festival will host a vibrant and immersive Sci-Fi Comic Art section dedicated to showcasing the visual creativity and storytelling power of science fiction through illustration, graphic novels, and comics. This special segment invites established and emerging comic artists to display their original works on tabletop exhibits across the festival grounds, creating a visual corridor of imagination that celebrates the diversity of global science fiction narratives. From dystopian megacities and deep space adventures to fantastical biotech futures and reimagined mythologies, visitors will journey through the illustrated frontiers of human curiosity and fear, hope and rebellion.

Artists working in a wide range of styles—from retrofuturistic pulp to cutting-edge digital—will be featured, reflecting the evolution of sci-fi aesthetics across cultures and decades. The section aims to bridge traditional pen-and-ink techniques with contemporary visual storytelling platforms, offering attendees an opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their creative process, and purchase unique prints or collectibles. Dedicated panels and micro-talks will accompany the exhibits, delving into the influence of comic art on science literacy, futurism, and the rise of indie speculative fiction in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

The Comic Art section also emphasizes the synergy between illustration and education, particularly how visual narratives have introduced generations of readers to STEM concepts—from robotics and quantum physics to climate engineering and AI ethics. By curating a rich, inclusive space for sci-fi illustrators to share their work, this exhibition honors comic art as a dynamic and accessible medium for inspiring scientific imagination, especially among youth and educators. This is not just an art show—it is a tribute to the visionaries who draw the future into being.
